TwitView for Windows 8 - Update v1.2.0

As long as the update doesn't break anything, this should be the last update until Windows 8.1 comes out next month! I've already started transitioning the code to 8.1 so expect another update as soon as Microsoft allows developers to submit 8.1 versions of their apps to the store.

Also, the Windows Phone 8 version of TwitView is nearing completion! After I have dealt with a few minor issues and added the finishing touches, I should be able to submit the app for certification sometime later this week. ;)

Changelog: v1.2.0
[new] Faster startup time!
[new] Updated to new TWiT.tv live stream
    *    Adaptive live stream - May take up to a minute for the stream to find the best quality for your connection.
    *    Added button to change video quality (High Quality, Low Quality, or Adaptive).
[new] Cloud Settings page
    *    When setting up syncing, asks if you want to sync to most recent backup if available or overwrite it and create a new one from the current device.
    *    Displays last backup time.

[fix] Crash when one of the MyTwit feeds fail to load.
[fix] OMGcraft not loading correctly.
[fix] Downloads bugs
[fix] Schedule - Show names now wrap to the next line if too long.
[fix] Finally aligned 'TWiT Live' text on Live Stream Page.

Known Issue: On Windows 8.1 Preview some videos may fail to load. If pressing 'retry' multiple times doesn't work, try changing to a different video quality.

TwitView for Windows 8 - Update v1.1.2

This update fixes the crashing at startup problem that started happening yesterday. Twit.tv updated their calendar and it inadvertently broke the app, I have fixed this issue and just submitted the update to microsoft, so hopefully you will see it in the store in the next few days.

If you need your twit fix faster than that, I can send out this update directly to you.
Just email TwitViewRT@outlook.com, remember to tell us what kind of device/architecture you are using (either 32-bit, 64-bit, or ARM) so we can send you the right version of the update!
Please note, installing an update before it gets approved by Microsoft requires you to unlock your system in order to sideload the app. Although this is a fairly easy and straightforward process that I can explain in a email, but there are potential security issues in doing so.

Changelog:
[fix] Crashing on startup.
[fix] Default IRC username error.
[fix] Scanning for downloads crashes app when no downloads are found.

TWiT View for Windows 8 - Update 1.1.0

This major update focused heavily on the backend of the app, therefore there should be very few noticeable changes at the user level. I completely changed how the app saves and tracks the episodes you watch. With this new database system I implemented, we can now easily share information (MyTwit, History, etc.) across devices and keep them sync with Microsoft's SkyDrive cloud storage service.

If you encounter any problems or bugs with this update, please email me at TwitViewRT@outlook.com

P.S. - If you're wondering about the lack of updates as of late, I'm currently busy porting this app to Windows Phone! So be sure to check this blog for more news about my progress in the next few weeks.

1.1.0 Changelog:
[new] Cloud Syncing & Backup - Sync History and MyTwit across multiple Windows 8 devices with Microsoft Skydrive.
[new] Options Menu - Ability to scan local media folder for downloaded files.
[new] Ability to increase Playback Speed (1.5x to 2x)
[new] Chat username now defaults to "TwitView".

Windows 8.1 Preview - Live Stream Issue

UPDATE 6/29/13 - New update has fixed this issue.

Last night I installed the new Windows 8.1 Preview and noticed the live stream wasn't working in the current version of Twit View (1.0.6) in the app store.

I was able to fix this issue and immediately submitted a new update to the Windows Store. It usually takes Microsoft around 5 days or so to approve an update and get it into the store, so you can expect to get the fix sometime next week.

Since the live stream is such an important part of the app, I will send anyone running the 8.1 preview an early copy of this update if they want to test it and get it sooner. Just email TwitViewRT@outlook.com, remember to tell us what kind of device/architecture you are using (either 32-bit, 64-bit, or ARM) so we can send you the right version of the update!

Warning - Installing the update before it gets approved by Microsoft requires you to unlock your system in order to sideload the app. Although this is a fairly easy and straightforward process that I can explain in the email, please note there are potential security issues in doing so.

Update 1.0.6

This update focuses mainly on fixing live stream crashing issues and a few minor graphical glitches introduced in the last update.

Since submitting the update to Microsoft last week I've noticed a few issues: Play To no longer works on the live stream, and History list appears to be randomly resetting. Both of these problems will be addressed in the next update.

Changelog for 1.0.6:
[new] Added social network links to About App page.
[new] Homepage now focuses on TWiT Live at startup.
[new] Other minor UI changes.

[fix] History, MyTwit, and Downloads lists loading late and causing UI pop in.
[fix] Live stream crash when pausing video. Stream now completely stops when pause button is pressed, restart stream by simply pressing again.

Update 1.0.5

6-17-13: App just passed certification! Check the windows store for update.

I submitted a new update to Microsoft earlier this week, hopefully it will pass certification and will be ready to download from the store in the next few days or so. I will update this post when the download is live.

In this update, I completely changed how the app pulls data down from the twit.tv servers. Instead of loading all the shows at once on launch, it now loads each show individually on demand. Only the shows added to your MyTwit will load at startup. This should help reduce the amount of time it takes to load the app.

Changelog for 1.0.5:
[new] Faster startup and loading times.
[new] Media Controls - Skip ahead (60 seconds) and Skip back (15 seconds).
[new] Pin shows to Windows Start Screen.
[new] Button on homepage for easier access to current downloads.
[new] Error messages when app fails to connect to the twit.tv servers.
[new] Ability to check for new episodes on each Show Page (Refresh button).

[fix] Show icons duplicating and causing crashes.
[fix] MyTwit not detecting favorite shows correctly.
[fix] Live stream video looping and other connection issues.
[fix] Ads displaying incorrectly.
[fix] Minor UI bugs.

If you find any bugs in this update, please contact me at TwitViewRT@outlook.com
